On 25 September 2019, PT SMFL Leasing Indonesia successfully held its seminar for Education of Financial Literacy and Inclusion at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Atma Jaya Catholic University, while simultaneously fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.

Background

1. The seminar was held to support the OJK programme for improving financial literacy and inclusion for the public of Indonesia and implementation of the Indonesian National Strategy for Financial Literacy (revisit of 2017).

2. Organised to comply the following Regulation and Circular Letters of the Financial Services Authority (POJK and SEOJK):

a. POJK No. 76/POJK.07/2016 concerning Improvement of Financial Literacy and Inclusion for Consumers and/or the Public,

b. SEOJK No. 30/SEOJK.07/2016 concerning Activities for Improving Financial Literacy in the Financial Services Sector;

c. SEOJK No. 31/SEOJK.07/2016 concerning Activities in Support of Improving Financial Inclusion in the Financial Services Sector;

Objectives

1. To provide students with greater knowledge and understanding by introducing the various products and services of finance companies, enabling them to serve as the academic pillars of society and the generation that will drive the future economy;

2. To inform and build the understanding of students about the products and services of finance companies so that they will be able to differentiate them from other financial services products;

3. To introduce PT SMFL Leasing Indonesia, a reputable finance company in Indonesia, as a means of implementing financial inclusion. Accompanying this was the distribution of informative PT SMFL Leasing Indonesia merchandise to build the student’s knowledge of industry, finance and infrastructure, and the employment that these sectors provide;

4. As a form of appreciation and to implement its policy on corporate social responsibility, the company will also provide assistance in kind according to the needs of the university in demonstration of its support for higher education.

Reports

An event on the topic of Smart Use of Finance Company Products and Services, held at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Atma Jaya Catholic University (UAJ-FEB) on 25 September 2019, proved to be a great success. A total of 162 students attended and joined enthusiastically in the programme. Students were given presentations on ways of securing financing for business start-ups, an introduction to PT SMFL Leasing Indonesia and the various products and services of finance companies. The event included a symbolic handover of equipment donated by PT SMFL Leasing Indonesia under the CSR programme, comprising three printers including ink and six external hard drives in support of educational activities at the university’s Faculty of Economics and Business.
